Mims

Mims is Alezane's second filly foal (and her last). She is just over a year younger than her sister, Faylene, who was brought by someone at the Doncaster Sales to go into training for Point to Point racing.

In normal cirumatances, Mims would have been sold to go into race training, probably with National Hunt racing in mind. But, with Mims, nothing is ever normal.

Just a couple of days old.
With Caroline's daughter.

Mims growing up.

To describe Mims as a disaster waiting to happen would not be right - she is, in fact, a disaster that has happend again and again!

Poor Mims, it would be more truthful to say that she is almost unbelievably accident prone and unlucky.

Fightened by a loud thunder storm when she was only a yearling, she tried to jump out of her stable and ripped open her abdomen on the stable door.
The following year, she was in the field when she was, agiain, frightened by a ...>

Leg wound is highlighted.

....>    storm. Sadly, her jumping had not improved, This time when she failed to clear the gate she landed in the hedge and severely injured her leg (highlighted in the photo).

Her tendency to get herself into trouble isn't helped by the fact that she is as dim as she is beautiful. Who else could collide with a tree and get part of a branch stuck in her head? Who else would have the bad luck to be treated by a vet who had drunk a bit too much and stiched up the wound with a 2" piece of wood left in it?

The result of all her accidents was that Mims was never sold, never backed and schooled on. Caroline, her breeder, contacted us last year (2005). She couldn't afford to keep her any more and her son had lost interest in horses. She asked if we would be willing to give Mims a home 'for life' with Alli.
Perhaps her luck has changed. She has been with us for just over a year now, and in that time she has had more than the usual amount of cuts and scrapes, bumps and bruises - but no great disasters!

Mims arrives 28th October 2005. Reunited after 9 years, they knew one another straight away. The mystery of the closed gate!
